The ‘Organ Thief’ story is a cfcnet popular example of an urban legend. It began in Las Vegas, when a cocktail waitress named Cynthia Jay won $34.9 million at the Desert Inn. A drunk driver later rear-ended Jay and severely injured her. Cynthia Jay’s story is one of the most famous urban legends in Las Vegas. Another popular story is of a woman who won $39.7 million playing Megabucks. The odds of winning were 16.7 todayposting million to one.
In 1994, police in Las hyves Vegas reported a disturbing series of crimes on the Vegas strip. One of the victims, an Ohio man, struck up a conversation with an attractive young woman in a hotel bar. He eventually collapsed and blacked out. When he woke up, he was in the bathtub covered in ice. A note had been newscircles left by the phone resting on the floor near the bathtub, saying “Call 911 or you’ll die.”
